Health & Safety

Q-How can I inform you about my childs medical conditions?

A-We will send you an online medical form that you can fill in all the details in regards to any medical conditions. For example allergies, asthma, etc. If there is any other requests you can fill in the extra details and we can help you out.

Q-Can you manage my childs medications?

A-Of course we can. Our senior staff will keep record of who needs to take medications throughout the camp. In the medical form you can let us know when and how much to take. We ask that the children keep it in an easy and accessible place such as their bag.

Q-Does my child require any medical documentation?

A- Yes, each child is required to bring a copy of their NHI health card. In the case where your child is required medical attention at a hospital we will show the facility their medical card. We will pay the fees for the consultation and will ask you to reimburse us when you pick up your child.

Q-My child still wets the bed, can you accommodate my child?

A-Yes, we can. We ask that you pack fitted diapers in their bag. If you think they will have a problem please make your child put one on before we leave for the camp. At night our counsellors can discreetly help your child put on a diaper avoiding any embarrassment.

Q-My child has a peanut allergy and I am worried about if there will be any chance of peanut exposure. Will you be serving any food or snacks with peanuts?

A- We are a peanut free environment. Today there are more cases of children with peanut allergies, so we decided to eliminate them completely. Before each camp venue we request their food menu and make sure there are no peanuts served.

Q- My child cannot eat pork due to religious reasons. Can you accomodate that request?

A-Yes. We can. In the camper medical form there is section that you can let us know about this situation. We will contact the camp facility and work on an alternate meal.

Q-Are your activities conducted in a safe manor?

A-Staff conduct regular safety checks of all camp facilities, equipment, and safety areas to ensure a safe environment. We also take into consideration of the local weather and make sure conditions are safe enough to conduct each activity. If they are not we always have a plan B activity to follow out in a safe and fun way.

Q-Have you ever had any serious injuries at your camps?

A-We are proud to say after 8 years of English Camps we have had zero. Our senior staff are trained with CPR and first aid. In the case of a small or minor incident we are ready to take care of it.

Q- What happens if my child gets hurt or sick while at camp?

A- In the case of a minor case of sickness or injury we will monitor the child onsite and notify the guardians when appropriate. In the case of a more serious sickness or injury we will take them to the nearest hospital or medical facility for further consultation. During that time we will contact you immediately and keep you updated over the process. If your child is too sick or injured we will require you to pick up your child.

Q-What happens in the case of a disaster such as earthquake, typhoon, flooding, etc?

A-We follow evacuation protocols of the facilities we are using and also local municipality protocols. In the case of evacuation we will contact local municipality and follow their protocols. While this is happening we will be in contact with the parents immediately and keep you updated throughout our course of action.

Camp Life

Q-Can my child attend camp alone? Do you often get many campers coming alone?

A- We have more then half of the campers come alone. We are always impressed to see kids come alone and make friends right away. We provide a real fun and positive environment which allows the kids to feel at ease from the moment we meet at the pick up point, and get on the bus. It really shows great character on their part.

Q-My child is shy, will they fit into your camps?

A- Our counsellors are there to bring out the best in each camper. Some require a little more attention to open up, but we always love to see a shy camper open up and become one of the many happy campers. This also is a great experience to work on it and come out a more confident child when they return.

Q-How can I contact my child while at camp?

A-Before each camp we will give you the contact numbers of the counsellors in charge. If you need to contact your child you can contact us and we can arrange for you to talk to your child. We prefer that you keep it only on an emergency basis as we want the campers to focus on the program. We prohibit phones and electronics so please do not pack them.

Q-Should my child bring money to the camps?

A-No, the camp fee covers all food, drinks and snacks while at the camp facility. We don’t want to have the child lose money. While in transit to and from the camp facility we recommend that you provide a suica card charged. This way the kids can get their own drinks and snacks along the way.

Q-What should I pack for me kid and how should I prepare it?

A-Before the camp we will send out a detailed information package digitally. On this will be a checklist of what you should pack for the camp, for example for 2 days-4 days, each camp varies. Also we would like for you to label your childs clothing in order for them to keep their items and not mix it up with other campers. Please not we are not responsible for lost items and to explain to your children to keep your items organized. We will at the end of camp season post pictures of what we have and will post on your expense. If nothing has been claimed at 10 days the items will be donated to a clothes bank.

Q-What is your camp counsellor to camper ratio?

A-We like to keep it from a 1:6-1:8 camp counsellor to camper ratio. We also have support staff plus the camp director present at the camps. We like to keep it at a low ratio in order for the kids to have great interaction with their leaders while at camp. The bonds built between camp leaders and the campers is very important to us and are a big reason why the kids can come back happy and with lots of great memories to reflect on.

Q-Will my child have a chance to rest during the camp at any point?

A- Yes! That is a must for both our campers and staff. This way we can keep the kids focused and energy levels up during the course of the camp. Over the course of the camps kids can get tired and that’s when accidents happen. We want to stay away from that at all costs. We will designate a certain time during the day for the kids to rest as well as the staff. We will encourage them to take a short sleep, play some cards or relax in the facilities. This way everyone stays
